When a film franchise releases the latest installment in its line of films, you get the same feeling as when you close the last page of a book; at least that's what I felt when I saw Dawn Part 2the latest film in the series Twilight Movies. Now Netflix, the top streaming service, is set to revive the franchise with an animated series based on Stephenie Meyer's novel. Midnight Sun.
While the series is still in an early stage of development and Netflix has yet to reveal an official release date, we already have an idea of what the story of the new series will be like. Twilight The series will be developed. The animated show will be an adaptation of the 2020 novel. Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer, the writer of Twilight novel series, which retells the events of the first book from the perspective of Edward Cullen, the teenage vampire who falls in love with Bella Swan.
Returning to the Twilight The production team will be none other than the franchise's creator herself, Stephenie Meyer, who will take on the role of executive producer alongside Fickle Fish Films' Meghan Hibbett. Joining the two will be Sinead Daly, who has previous experience as a screenwriter on one of Netflix Australia's top TV shows. The lowering It will be an asset to bring Edward's story to life.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart played the roles of Edward and Bella in the film series, which grossed billions of dollars at the box office between 2008 and 2012, but the question of who will be next to take on the roles in the Netflix animated series remains unanswered. Regardless of who is cast and how the series is received, I can tell you that I'm going to binge watch it on premiere day.
Netflix, you have my full attention
I imagine a lot of people will have a lot of questions about the upcoming Netflix animated series because while the original films were box office hits, the critics' ratings are catastrophic. As it stands, the first film, Twilight (2008), has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 49%, which is tied with its last installment. Dawn Part 2. Eclipse It follows with 46%, then New moon with 28%, and Dawn Part 1 One of them takes the last place with 25%, which means that none of them have made it to our list of the best movies on Netflix.
As someone who not only lived through every movie release, but once had a non-stop watch party where I watched all five movies in one day (it was in quarantine), I admit that the movies are objectively bad, but that’s why I’m obsessed with them. And what will undoubtedly bother me about the upcoming animated series is the snobbish criticism it will receive, which will be based purely on its canonical texts. Twilight Movies weren't designed to be thought-provoking, moving pictures, so why stay angry?
The beauty of the Twilight The series is that everything is driven by its failed seriousness, which is the case with many young adult book-to-movie adaptations of the early and mid-2010s; just look at films like Under the same star (2014) and the Divergent Series (2014-2016). Netflix's attempt at making an animated series Twilight The series could completely fail, and if it does, I'm here for it.
