The world's first triple-folding phone is almost here, and we've already taken another look at it: the Huawei Mate XT is set to officially launch next Tuesday, but Huawei has already posted images and storage options online.
You can head over to Huawei's store now to check out the Mate XT in a red finish with gold detailing. The site is now letting you pre-order the phone in China, and storage options are listed as 512GB or 1TB, which come with 16GB of memory.
Huawei had already posted the same image on social media and well-known tipster Evan Blass also shared the photo of the phone in a different dark grey color. It seems that these are the two colors that buyers can choose from.
Sadly, it looks like the Mate XT won't be available outside of China, especially since Huawei devices are still banned in the US. The rest of us will have to wait to get our hands on a three-part foldable phone.
Another fold
Adding an extra crease to the standard foldable form factor poses an additional engineering challenge for Huawei, but it also means that part of the main display can be duplicated and used as an outer display when the device is folded.
With the Mate X and Mate X2, Huawei had already produced two different types of standard book-shaped foldable phones: one that folds inwards and one that folds outwards. That technical know-how has no doubt been useful in creating the Mate XT.
We've also previously seen a teaser video of the Huawei Mate XT, which offers a brief look at the phone in use. We're still waiting on a few key details about the phone, including the size of the main display and the chipset used inside.
Everything should be revealed on Tuesday, September 10 – it all starts at 2:30pm China time, which means it will be 11:30pm Pacific time on September 9, and 2:30am Eastern time/7:30am BST/4:30pm AEST time on September 10.
