- The functions of AI in the Kindle Scribe 2024 were only available for US clients.
- The last firmware with AI functions is now being implemented in users in the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia
- These characteristics are now also available in 2022 Kindle Scribe
When the Amazon Kindle Scribe (2024) was launched in December last year, it bothered me that the promised characteristics of AI were not part of the package for users outside the United States. At that time, Amazon did not have a comment to do when the summary of AI and the characteristics of handwriting recognition would be implemented more widely, but that now happened.
The latest firmware update (version 5.17.3) is now available to download in the Kindle Scribe 2024 and 2022 models in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, which means that even the previous model is now a shot device of notes much better than before.
I have reviewed the 2022 and 2024 models that I have but, at the time of the publication, neither had the last firmware available for download. However, Amazon has already listed it on its customer aid and service in Australia, where I am located, so it is only a matter of time before the devices itself. You can, of course, download the software package from the Amazon site in your region if you do not want to wait, but you must use the service send to Kindle or send it by email to your Kindle to update your device.
Once installed, you should be able to see a star icon in your notebooks. Touching this will give you two options: to 'summarize' a note or 'refine writing'.

This firmware update also includes a new feature called side panel margin. As the name implies, this adds a side panel where you can write notes when you read an electronic book. This feature is also part of the last firmware that is implemented in more users outside the US. And is available for both scribes models.
The side panel function is additional to the active canvas, which only adds a box for your hand written while reforming the page. The side panel is literally that: a long -term panel for your thoughts, with the ability to alter the width as much as you want.
A better notes.
This new update means that the Kindle scribes now is a much better electronic paper tablet than was, especially the original 2022 model. The promised deployment of the characteristics of AI leads to the oldest scribe at the same time with its successor and, Since it is now cheaper to buy, it represents a better value. However, I am still partial with Kobo's advanced notebooks, but I am delighted to see Amazon making an effort to make the scribes more competitive.
The only bone that I have to choose with Amazon now, just because I am Australian, is that none of the new Kindles now has audible support. How about then, Amazon?
