They say size doesn't matter, but it clearly does when some Google Pixel users report that their virtual keyboards are suddenly shrinking. On the r/GooglePixle subreddit, as noted by 9to5Google, a group of Pixel phone users appeared to say that Gboard, Google's official Android virtual keyboard, is suddenly becoming small and window-like, or that the keyboard It itself is the right size. but the font is small despite being set correctly in the settings.
Either keyboard mutation will be a pain, although the latter may not be as problematic for people who can type proficiently on virtual keyboards. Otherwise, small fonts will make Gboard very difficult to use unless you have microscopic vision.
“It's already happened to me a couple of times. Turn your phone horizontally and wait until Gboard appears [then turn it] Return to the portrait. That solved it for me. The first time it was strange, then it's just annoying,” explained Reddit user DevilAlien.
Google Pixel Fold users don't seem to be immune to the issue either, with Redditor SergioSzm noting: “I also had this issue on my Fold and 1 hour later it went away on its own. I couldn't find anything to get it back to normal size and I didn't do or change anything.”
It's not the biggest surprise to have problems with Pixel phones – I still remember the Google Pixel 6 Pro's infuriatingly slow fingerprint scanner. But it's a strange problem and could probably frustrate users if it keeps happening. For what it's worth, Google Pixel users on the TechRadar team have had no such issues as of this writing.
So, this issue might have limited impact, but if you encounter it, you can rest assured that you are not alone, you are not going crazy, and in fact, this is a problem that others are facing.
If the increasingly smaller keyboard is bothering you, I suggest that a simple restart of your Pixel phone could be the panacea for the problem. If the issue persists, you may need to check that your Gboard is set up correctly and that it is running the latest version of Android and Pixel Launcher; To do the latter, go to Settingsscroll to About of the phone and then android version to get the version of the Google mobile operating system your phone is running.
To check for an update, go to System option in the Settings appand then play System update/software updates option to activate an update if necessary,
