Hallmark has introduced what it calls an all-new streaming experience: Hallmark Plus. The new service replaces Hallmark Movies Now and offers an expanded catalog as well as real benefits, like Hallmark Gold Crown Store rewards and coupons.
The new service is set to launch in mid-September 2024 and promises to bring the best of Hallmark into one service, expanding its existing lineup of movies and also introducing some new shows to compete with the best streaming services.
The new service won't mean the end of Hallmark movies on Peacock, as the company confirmed the deal will continue. But Hallmark Plus is a sign that after a few years of trying its hand at streaming, Hallmark is now ready to make the jump.
What to expect from Hallmark Plus
Hallmark Plus will offer what the company calls “a diverse array of original titles” that stick closely to Hallmark's winning formula of being heartwarming and happy — don't expect a sudden surge of nihilistic, terrifyingly violent horror movies like the best horror movies, as fun as that would be.
So far, announced shows include Hallmark's first-ever Christmas limited series. Vacation and Mistletoe Murders; a reality competition show called In search of Mr. Christmas; an “ambitious, unscripted series with an emphasis on heart, home and community” featuring many fan-favorite cast members; Groomsmena new trilogy of films inspired by The bridal veil and focusing on the friendship between three male protagonists; and a series based on the best-selling novel The Chicken Sisters by KJ Dell'Antonia.
The new service will cost $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year in the U.S. and will include a host of benefits including $5 monthly gift cards, unlimited e-cards, shopping rewards and “surprise gifts.”
