The GSMA Industry Services Team is promoting interoperability tests and network settings exchange initiatives to guarantee a global turning display without problems for Samsung
April 30, 2025, London – The GSMA today announced a new association with Samsung Electronics, the Global Mobile Industry Association, to improve the quality and connectivity of voice calls through 4G and 5G networks by enabling Volte (Voice Over LTE) by default on devices that run android 15 or posterior.
This initiative admits a global display of volte without interruptions, ensuring that all basic telephone services, such as emergency calls and roaming, remain functional as global mobile operators eliminate 2G and 3G networks for 4G and 5G services of higher quality.
Working in alignment with the exchange of GSMA network configuration (NSX) and interoperability test services, Samsung is helping to enable consistent and reliable voice services in a wide range of operators and regions by default. All Samsung devices that use Android 15 or higher, including the recently launched Galaxy S25 series, are being equipped to access high quality turns where it is admitted, using IMS configurations defined by the operator through NSX or by predetermining the GSMA #4 profile when necessary.
The NSX GSMA is a centralized platform designed to optimize and standardize the distribution of the mobile network configuration from operators to device manufacturers (OEM) worldwide. It allows mobile network operators (MNO) and mobile virtual network operators (MVNO), load, manage and distribute their latest network settings. Through NSX GSMA, operators can share specific IMS settings with device manufacturers to guarantee service functionality and perfect interoperability. Device manufacturers can also preconfigure devices according to the shared network configuration of each operator in the concentrator.
GSMA's interoperability test service further supports this work by providing a set of validation tools that confirm the compatibility of the Operator device for VOTA before the commercial implementation. Given the scale of the tests required to enable samsung devices worldwide, in addition to turning turned by default, Samsung has also aligned its trial regime with the Vista-Standard GSMA test procedures.
Together, GSMA and Samsung will help operators evaluate the preparation of VOLTA through standard tests, underlining the importance of collaboration throughout the industry. The GSMA also provides interoperability test services to help operators with pre-arch turning tests in collaboration with Samsung.
Justin Jun, Quality Chief, Chief of Group UK at Samsung Electronics, said: “Our collaboration with GSMA has strengthened Samsung's compatibility, allowing more stable voice services and without problems in networks and regions. We are excited to continue advancing connectivity so that users can have an exceptional mobile experience, where life takes them.”
Sianne Ryder, general manager, GSMA services said: “The GSMA welcomes Samsung's pioneer efforts to improve call services. We have invested a significant effort in the preparation of the industry for the preparation turns, so this collaboration with Samsung is an important step. Connectivity through the networks.
