In a recent disclosure, popular American all-you-can-eat restaurant chain Golden Corral revealed that it was the victim of a cyberattack in August 2023, resulting in unauthorized access and theft of personal information of around 180,000 people. .
The breach also temporarily affected the company's operations, disrupting some of its corporate operations.
An investigation into the attack revealed that the confidential information of current and former employees and beneficiaries had been compromised between August 11 and 15, 2023.

The company's announcement noted that it took Golden Corral until January 26, 2024 to locate address information for affected individuals after confirming that certain information had been included in the data breach.
The disclosure confirms that employee, dependent and beneficiary names, Social Security numbers, financial account information, driver's license numbers, medical information, usernames and passwords, and user information health insurance could have been leaked.
“Golden Corral treats its responsibility to safeguard the information entrusted to it as a top priority,” the company said in a statement. “As such, Golden Corral responded promptly to this incident and has been working diligently to provide accurate and complete notice of the incident.”
Golden Corral's immediate response was to cooperate with federal law enforcement agencies.
Although there is currently no evidence of misuse of the stolen information, the company is acting to protect those affected, who are advised to be vigilant and take proactive measures to protect themselves.
