Philips Professional Display Solutions (PPDS) has introduced its innovative Philips Urban LED 6000 series, marking the company's official debut in the outdoor LED display market, which is projected to be worth $29.87 billion by 2032.
The Philips Urban LED 6000 series was launched at ISE 2024 in Barcelona and will be an integral part of PPDS' partnership with FC Barcelona.
The company will be the official supplier of LED screens and digital signage at the Spotify Camp Nou stadium, which will complete a major renovation in 2026.
That refresh rate
The new outdoor LED series is designed to bring new creative possibilities to customers and the Philips Urban LED 6000 series features a remarkable 10,000 nits brightness and a refresh rate of 7680 Hz (note that the refresh rates for LED only measured in Hz), offering impressive visual performance. to see distances between 10 and 30 meters.
While comparing a display like the Philips Urban LED 6000 Series to a computer display is useful to demonstrate its power and required needs, it is important to understand that it is not a like-for-like comparison. While a typical refresh rate for a monitor might be 60Hz to 240Hz, an outdoor display designed to be viewed from a distance should be much higher.
The new series comes with an IP65 rating, making the panels resistant to water and potentially dangerous airborne contaminants, and PPDS says it can withstand temperatures ranging from -20°C (-4°F) to 50° C (122°F).
As part of PPDS' commitment to sustainability, the Philips Urban LED 6000 series has been optimized for lower energy consumption, operating at just 280 watts per square meter.
Martijn van der Woude, Vice President of Global Marketing and Business Development, commented: “We are not only announcing a major business expansion by entering the outdoor display market with the impressive new Philips Urban LED 6000 series, but we are also confirming our partnership as Official supplier of LED screens and digital signage to one of the most successful football clubs in the world, supporting the refurbishment of one of the most iconic stadiums in the world.”
