Smart home brand Eufy has lifted the curtain on its new 4K outdoor camera that can operate indefinitely without a wired power source or internet connection.
It's called the 4G LTE Cam S330 and it has a detachable solar panel to power its 9,400 mAh battery. You don't have to worry about the device not working under gloomy skies because the battery is capable of lasting a whole month. What's more, the Cam S330 only needs two hours of direct sun exposure to fully charge the battery, ensuring it runs smoothly during rainy seasons.
As you can probably guess from the name, the camera can connect to the 4G LTE cellular network. Eufy includes a free 3-in-1 SIM card from smart IoT brand EIOTCLUB. Its installation allows the Cam S330 to connect to AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon networks. Which one you choose will depend on which of the three is the most stable at the moment. Of course, you have the option of connecting the model to your home Wi-Fi.
Eufy offers buyers the option of using their own SIM cards. However, they recommend double-checking with providers to see if your SIM can actually be used in a security camera. You can install a 5G SIM card if you want, but note that the Cam S330 cannot use the 5G network. It will automatically become 4G by default. Additionally, the company states that “estimated data usage is around 700 MB per month,” although the amount of actual usage may vary.
Specifications
Moving on to the camera itself, the lens is capable of recording 4K resolution color videos all day and all night. It sits on a pivot that allows it to rotate 360 degrees and tilt up to 70 degrees. On board is an AI auto tracking feature to locate people or vehicles entering your property.
There are ways to complement the Cam S330. The device is compatible with Eufy's HomeBase S380, allowing for storage space of up to 16TB. It also features facial recognition software through BionicMind AI. If that's too much technology for you, the camera comes with an integrated microSD slot. You can use that as the default instead. A free 32GB microSD card will be provided with purchase. It holds up to 8 months of 4K footage, but if you want more, you can always upgrade to a 128GB card.
Other notable features include two-way audio, a bright 100-lumen spotlight, and compatibility with Google Voice Assistant and Alexa. Eufy's 4G LTE Cam S330 is on sale right now for $250/£250/€280.
