100 million women and girls to actively join the digital economy in the next decade
March 4, 2025, Barcelona: The Equals Global Partnership for Gender Equality in the digital era reaffirmed their commitment to empower women and girls in the digital world with the launch of their new mission and vision today in MWC25 Barcelona. This strengthened commitment by the founding partners of peers consisting of the International Telecommunications Union, the International Commerce Center, UN Women, UN University and GSMA, establishes an ambitious objective: to achieve digital gender equality by 2035.
With the rapid evolution of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation, ensure that women and girls have the same opportunity to participate and shape the digital economy is more critical than ever. The Global Equals association, a coalition of international organizations, governments, corporations, academic institutions, non -profit organizations and community organizations worldwide, is intensifying efforts to close the digital gender division.
Empower women and girls through digital innovation
To take advantage of the potential of emerging digital trends, the new vision is firm places women and girls in the center of digital transformation, placing them in the center of progress, participating, leading and innovating. By equipping them with digital skills, resources and opportunities, it is equal to an objective of empowering 100 million women and girls in the next decade to become active taxpayers to the digital economy.
“As technology evolves faster than ever, successful digital transformation depends on women and girls being at the forefront of change,” said IU general secretary, Doreen Bogdan-Martin. “That is why a renewed approach in empowering innovative and political leaders is promoting the new global association.”

But without intentional action, women and girls risk being left behind. By reaffirming our mission, the Global Equals association is ensuring that women and girls from everywhere can fully participate in the digital economy, unlocking their potential and shaping the future of technology. “
A global call to action
The work of the association will be structured around the thematic work torrents, each operating in a two -year cycle, which guarantees flexibility to adapt to emerging challenges and opportunities. Partners and members will continue to advocate for policy changes, promoting collaboration between public and private sectors, and launching specific programs to support women and girls in technology.
As part of its broader vision, the same aligns its work with key global frameworks, including the UN 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, the UN global digital compact and the results of the Beijing +30 review process, reinforcing its commitment to the measurable long -term and measurable impact.
