Elden RingFromSoftware director Hidetaka Miyazaki says he might consider including “full end-to-end co-op” in future FromSoftware games.
Speaking in an interview with PC Gamer ahead of the release of Elden Ringthe expansion The shadow of the ErdtreeThe president of FromSoftware was asked to comment on the popular Seamless Co-op mod.
If you're unfamiliar, Seamless Co-op allows players to group up with their friends in a continuous multiplayer session and provides a different experience when exploring the Between Lands.
While Elden Ring It has a cooperative system, it is quite limited and does not allow you to play constantly with friends.
According to Miyazaki, he is not against players using the mod in their adventures and explained that when designing the game's summoning mechanics, he wanted it to be more casual.
“It's definitely not something we actively oppose or want to downplay, wanting to spend the entire game together,” Miyazaki said. “In terms of where we were Elden Ring, it was simply a matter of wanting that more relaxed and informal style: enter, defeat a boss, leave. “It doesn't impose any technical restrictions on the player, it just allows them to complete this approach and then move on, so to speak.”
Miyazaki also revealed that FromSoftware might consider changing its cooperative approach with future titles, considering the popularity of the mod.
“That doesn't mean we won't consider other ways you and your friend played, start to finish, in full co-op; that doesn't mean we won't consider ideas like that in our future games.”
