The Apple Watch is a great way to track activity, but the Workout app also has a fun feature where you can earn colorful badges by completing special challenges. And as it happens, the tech giant recently launched a new limited-edition badge to commemorate International Yoga Day, which falls on June 21.
The insignia is based on the lotus flower, with a pink center, orange petals and the year “2024,” all embellished in gold. All you have to do to earn it is log a 10-minute yoga workout on the wearable device.
According to Tom's Guide, there are no limitations on how to obtain it. For example, you could start a hot yoga session where you perform the exercise in a heated room. If that's not your style, you can always opt for a more relaxed and mindful yoga session or follow one of the many Apple Fitness Plus classes.
It doesn't matter if you're a beginner, a yoga veteran, or even whatever practice you choose. The most important thing is that you record the training.
Keep the room temperature in mind if you decide on hot yoga, as high temperatures can cause performance issues. For example, the Apple Watch Series 9 has a maximum operating temperature of 95 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 35 degrees Celsius). While the Apple Watch Ultra 2, on the other hand, should have no problem at those temperatures, as it can withstand temperatures up to 130 degrees Fahrenheit (about 55 degrees Celsius).
How to record a workout
Recording an exercise is easy. To get started, launch the Workout app on your portable device and locate the Yoga exercises. They are easily identified thanks to the icon of a person standing on one leg. You can tap the icon to immediately start a session or create your own workout by setting a specific calorie goal and time limit.
Either way, after the 10 minutes are up, you will receive a notification that you have earned the badge. You can find detailed instructions on how to track your progress and finish a workout on Apple's support website.
We recommend acting quickly to get the International Yoga Day badge. As Macworld explains, limited edition achievements only last for about a day or a full weekend. Once they're gone, that's it.
