That's saying something when even I, the queen of trash television, can't get into a teen drama that's supposed to be mind-numbing entertainment. Unfortunately, XO, kitten Season 3 is the Netflix series that has completely failed.
However, I'm not the only one who feels disappointed. A quick search on social media shows that the new series has been called “disappointing” and “embarrassing” by fans, which wasn't helped by the fact that it decided to break off one of the show's most popular relationships (although no spoilers here).
While this month's new Netflix binges are so far, ahem, disappointing, it wasn't always that way. I don't mean just seeing the back of Bridgerton and virgin river not for the foreseeable either.

In recent years, the streamer has released some of the best teen and young adult dramas out there. In fact, one of them is so comforting that it's my official antidote to XO, kitten — Release season 3 and stream it My life with the Walter Boys instead.
Why you need to stream My Life with the Walter Boys instead of XO, Kitty season 3
Look
Yes, I could have chosen the really obvious option: To all the boys I've loved before film trilogy that is also on Netflix. But I not only want my recommendation to focus on television, but I sincerely believe My life with the Walter Boys is the strongest teen franchise in the streamer's arsenal.
Based on the book series of the same name, My life with the Walter Boys It follows Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez), a 15-year-old New Yorker whose life is turned upside down when her family is killed in a car accident.
She moves to rural Colorado to live with her guardian, Katherine Walter (Sarah Rafferty), who is raising 10 children… which, as you can imagine, is a world away from what Jackie is used to.
While it encapsulates the same romantic will-they-won't-they vibes XO, kitten, My life with the Walter Boys excels at presenting the struggles of everyday teen life. Relationship building is at the core of the show, with platonic familial bonds just as important as romantic ones.
Adolescence is a complicated thing and we want to be reminded of the bad times in the most pleasant way possible. Where XO, kitten often borders on shame, soap opera tropes, My life with the Walter Boys remains connected to ground.
Don't get me wrong, though: there's plenty of drama in this last one to get caught up in. It's messy, raw, and complicated, which is everything we want in an epic teen drama.
