Sony's next live multiplayer shooter Concord It has been in development for eight years.
This comes from ConcordFirewalk Studios lead character designer Jon Weisnewski in an X/Twitter post celebrating the release of the 5v5 first-person shooter, said that he joined the project when Firewalk Studios had been working on the game for five years (via IGN).
“The game has been in development for about 8 years and I've been there for almost 5 of them,” Weisnewski said. “We don't get a lot of launch days in our careers, so today is special for a bunch of reasons. Give me some good vibes today.”
The hero shooter is now available on PlayStation 5 and PC for those who purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition, but everyone will be able to play it when it officially launches tomorrow, August 30, 2024.
According to Weisnewski, it's just the beginning for Firewalk Studios as it prepares for the “years ahead.”
“Concord has a lot of humanity and depth to it,” the developer added. “I really hope people give it a chance. We're incredibly proud of the game and are prepared to keep pushing it for years to come.”
Despite being a real-life shooter, it has been confirmed that Concord will not have a Battle Pass, as Firewalk wanted to focus its attention on making the game a “rewarding and solid experience from day one, where simply playing, leveling up your accounts and characters, and completing jobs yields meaningful rewards.”
However, the shooter will feature microtransactions in the form of downloadable content (DLC) that will allow players to purchase optional cosmetics such as character skins.
Concord They will also receive free post-launch content that will bring additional Freegunners maps (playable characters) and more “seasons and regular post-launch updates.”
