Windows enthusiasts are always coming up with ways to tweak the operating system to change the aesthetics, minimize bloatware, or sometimes just have fun and push the boundaries of what it can do. Now, an app has appeared that will let you travel back in time and run Windows 11 in a Windows 10 environment, sort of. Confused? Well, don't be, let us explain…
YouTuber LagLife is the developer of the RevertSV app, which allows Windows 11 users to revert the operating system back to the Windows 10 user interface. However, what the app basically does is change the look of Windows 11 (in a very elegant way), so in practice, you get all the benefits of Windows 11, but with the thrill of not having to look at it! Instead, you get the Windows 10 interface (or most of it).
RevertSV is the product of about three months of work by LagLife, and now there is a release version that Neowin seen, which can be downloaded at Internet ArchiveWhile this is advertised as a release build (and it certainly works, based on YouTube footage (from the developer and others on the platform), there are certain caveats here.
It's based on the long-out-of-support Windows 11 21H2 and has a number of bugs and issues (for example, Windows Search isn't working properly for many users, which is a huge inconvenience). It's clearly not something you want to run on your real PC, and as Neowin recommends, it's an app that, if you want to try, you should only do so in a virtual machine.
Or, more likely, you can simply marvel at RevertSV's YouTube demos, like the one LagLife put together below.

Of course, not everyone is a fan of Windows 11, and the operating system has struggled in terms of popularity. Despite being almost three years old, Windows 11 is only just reached 30% adoptionIt's true that part of this is due to the hardware requirements (which are stricter than Windows 10), but it could also be due to unwanted features, AI, or ads popping up everywhere and unpleasant interface changes (of which there are quite a few).
Windows 10 is still the king of the Microsoft desktop operating system field, and that could mean that when RevertSV is finished and polished, and LagLife delivers the “script to revert an existing installation to the Windows 10 UI with one click” that the developer promised in his first youtube video For this project, this clever little creation is likely to be quite popular.
There are probably quite a few people who want to have the features of Windows 11, but without the look and feel of the new operating system, instead benefiting from the classic Windows 10 interface.
Personally, I'm looking forward to the RevertSV app being finished and perfected so I can go back in time to when I was just a teenager in computer science class playing around.
