Audio brand Anker will help people get a good night's sleep with its next pair of wireless headphones: the Soundcore Sleep A20. These headphones have been specially designed to block out as much outside noise as possible while still being comfortable to wear in bed.
The first thing to note when looking at the Sleep A20 product page is that there is no active noise cancellation feature, presumably because the ANC technology quickly drains the headphones' batteries. Instead, Anker is implementing what it calls a “4-point noise masking system.” It starts with a design that consists of two layers of silicon instead of just one. This setup, the company claims, gives the A20s “three times stronger passive noise blocking” than garden headphones.
According to Anker, the devices are preloaded with white noise and other sounds in “an included sound library.” The smart volume control will automatically adjust the audio intensity to ensure that outside noise (like someone snoring) doesn't filter in. The same library even offers personal alarms that only you can hear so you don't disturb your sleeping spouse or anyone else in your room. a nearby room.
Hermetic sealing
As for the exterior design, the company developed the Sleep A20 earbuds to fit comfortably and claims that they adapt to the shape of your ear. Speaking from personal experience, sleeping with headphones often produces a dull, stabbing pain. Especially if you sleep on your side, it can hurt quite a bit.
It seems that Anker is well aware of this problem since their model has a flat cover that protects the ear canal. The ends of the A20 transform into an “Air Wing” to evenly distribute the pressure caused by its weight. According to Anker, this wing plus the “ultra-soft material” used for its construction should allow for greater comfort.
Of course, you can listen to music or podcasts from your favorite streaming device via Bluetooth. However, the Sleep A20s aren't designed primarily for music and Anker's product page doesn't include a spec sheet, so we don't know what kind of drivers it will have.
Maximum battery life is set at 80 hours with the charging case. Between charges, the earbuds offer “14 hours of continuous playback in sleep mode.” That number drops further to 10 hours with Bluetooth enabled. Other notable features include support for automatic sleep monitoring and sleeping position tracking; Both can be accessed through the official Soundcore app.
Availability
The launch of Anker's Soundcore Sleep A20 will be a bit complicated.
On April 16 at 8 a.m. EST, the company will launch a Kickstarter campaign where you'll be able to pre-purchase the headphones for 40 percent off in the US, UK, and possibly Azerbaijan because the code is listed. country “AZ”. We believe this is a typographical error and they intended to put Australia instead.
Once the Kickstarter ends, the Sleep A20 will be widely available for purchase on Amazon as well as its online store for $150/£120/€150. You can sign up to be notified when the campaign starts by entering your email on the product page.
We reached out to Anker for clarification on certain aspects such as its future availability and final price, among other things. We will update with any news.
Anker's latest model may simply be the headphones that fill the void left by rival Bose when it discontinued its SleepBuds series. As good as they were, it seems there wasn't enough interest in the SleepBuds II, so he pulled the plug. It's a shame because we really liked them and Bose hasn't announced any future development of sleep headphones.
