Anker MagGo Wireless Charging Station 3-in-1 Pad Review
The Anker MagGo 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station is a conveniently designed tabletop charger capable of charging an iPhone, Apple Watch, and compatible headphone cases. It lists for $99.99 / £89.99 / AU$199.95 on Anker's website and is also available for purchase on Amazon. I was provided with the Stone Black model of the Anker MagGo 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Pad, available here in the UK, US and Australia. Those across the pond in the US also have an additional color option, Shell White.
The design of the MagGo 3-in-1 wireless charging pad is simple but attractive. All visible materials appear to be of good quality and there are some nice little details like the metallic finish on the folding iPhone charger holder. The top surface and sides of the charging station have a smooth matte finish that doesn't seem to scratch easily, which was advantageous as my very long (and very pink) nails can be problematic for some matte finishes.
The Apple Watch and iPhone charging modules fold down to the 0.53-inch/14mm-deep base, but while the former sits below surface level, the iPhone's charging pad sits at least 0.2inch/5mm higher, raising questions about how fair it would be if packed in a drawer or bag.
The Apple Watch charger was easy to lift from the bottom; However, the iPhone's charging module was more difficult to place upright. Again, I had to push from under the base, but it was awkward as the hinges on the iPhone charger arm were quite rigid, making it difficult to extend and position it at the angle I wanted. However, the rigidity of the hinges meant they were sturdy enough to hold position while the phone was in place, so at least that's a plus side.
As expected, due to the large surface area, the Anker MagGo 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Pad gets dusty easily. For the most part, this is easily fixed with a quick clean thanks to the smooth surface, but the presumably silicone ring on the AirPods' charging area tends to stick a bit to their fibrous friends. Anker claims that this charger is “easily portable,” and while this may be true in terms of the slab-shaped design, its 12oz/340g weight makes it too heavy to be as easy to carry as some of the best wireless chargers.
I appreciated that the format of the charging station meant that all the chargers were easily accessible and I could see each of my devices. The only drawback is that it takes up a lot of space on the surface and, although I prefer this format to other good performance chargers, such as the ESR Qi2 3 in 1 Watch Wireless Charging SetAt 9 x 3.37 inches / 229 x 86 mm, the Anker MagGo Wireless Charging Station 3-in-1 pad would not be convenient if there is limited free space on your desk or nightstand.
The Anker MagGo Wireless Charging Station 3-in-1 Base took just thirty-five minutes to charge a 3095mAh iPhone 13 Pro to fifty percent, and a full charge took one hour and fifty-eight minutes, which is a pretty average speed compared to the other MagSafe 3-in-1 chargers I've tested.
That makes the iPhone's charging speed almost twenty minutes faster than the Anker 3-in-1 Cube with MagSafeand twenty minutes slower than the fastest wireless charger I've tested to date, the Anker MagGo Wireless Charging Station 3-in-1 Stand – but that wasn't surprising, as I've yet to find another wireless charger that comes close to matching this speed.
Where the Anker MagGo 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Pad proved to be above average was in the speed of its Apple-certified fast charger for the Apple Watch. I did a double take when it finished charging my Apple Watch series 9, as it only took 55 minutes to fully reactivate it. This impressive speed makes it the fastest Apple Watch charger I've tested to date, with an eight-minute difference beating the Anker MagGo Wireless Charging Station 3-in-1 Foldable Pad out of first place.
Overall, I found the Anker MagGo 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Pad to be a convenient and attractive charging station. I was happy with the loading speeds and the exterior materials seemed of good quality.
Anker and I will have to agree that we don't agree that it's “easily portable” and the hinges and folding of the iPhone module could be improved, but other than this, it was a nice addition to my desk.
