Tropical Thunder It seems like the kind of movie that wouldn't be made in 2024. This star-studded comedy from the 2000s follows a group of veteran actors who, while filming a new movie about the Vietnam War, get caught up in a real-life conflict with Southeast Asian natives (think Search for galaxies (with jungles and helicopters).

The first of many collaborations between Danish cinema legends Mads Mikkelsen and Thomas Vinterberg, The hunt – now streaming for free on Tubi, Kanopy, and The Roku Channel – ranks among the best foreign-language films of the past 20 years.
Set in a small Danish town during the days leading up to Christmas, the film follows the plight of a divorced kindergarten teacher, Lucas (Mikkelsen), who falls victim to mass hysteria after being wrongfully accused of sexually abusing a girl in his class. Sure, that sounds grim, and The hunt It's not exactly a light-hearted film, but it's still a low-budget, gripping experience.

Long legs It may have dominated the horror movie conversation these past few months, but Oz Perkins' atmospheric murder mystery takes more than a few cues from David Fincher's filmography, including Zodiac.
This thriller inspired by true events chronicles the hunt for the Zodiac Killer, an infamous (and possibly still at large) serial killer who used letters, clues and crime scene evidence to taunt investigators in the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1960s. Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr. star. Zodiacwhich serves as a great companion piece to Fincher's best film, Seven.

RT Score: 89%
Length: 122 minutes
Director: James Mangold
Main cast: Russell Crowe, Christian Bale, Logan Lerman and Ben Foster
For some reason, James Mangold 3:10 to Yuma It was my favorite Sunday afternoon movie as a kid. This star-studded remake of the 1957 Western of the same name follows a washed-up rancher (Bale) who agrees to help lawmen transport a notorious criminal (Crowe) to a train headed for prison.
Since then, director James Mangold has directed more commercially successful films (Logan and Ford vs Ferrari among them), but 3:10 to Yuma For me, it remains one of his most accomplished films and worth rewatching. This movie is already available on Tubi for free, but it will soon be unavailable, so hurry if you want to see Russell Crowe in villainous cowboy mode.
