2K Games and Hangar 13 have confirmed that Mafia: The Old Country will have Sicilian dubbing after fans noticed the absence of an Italian dubbing option on Steam.
For the final, surprise announcement at Gamescom Opening Night Live, it was announced that the next game in the series Mafia series, Mafia: The Old CountryIt is currently in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S and is set to release in 2025.
While we only received a short cinematic trailer, the game is now available to wishlist on its respective stores.
However, shortly after the reveal, some fans found additional information on the Steam page suggesting that the game would not feature an Italian audio option, despite its Italian roots.
Instead, the page lists six available languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Czech and Russian, but includes Italian subtitles and interface options.
“Listen, I'm not really picky about voice acting in video games, but why does the first game in the entire Mafia franchise set in Sicily not have Italian audio?” one user wrote.

Thankfully, 2K Games and Hangar 13 have now offered some insight into the matter in a new statement shared on X/Twitter, explaining that The old country It will include the authentic Sicilian dialect from the game's 90s Sicilian setting, not Italian voices.
“Authenticity is at the heart of the Mafia franchise, and Mafia: The Old Country “The game will feature Sicilian voices, in line with the game's setting in 20th-century Sicily,” the post reads. “Additionally, Italian localization will be available for both the game's user interface and via subtitles.”
Mafia: The Old Country It doesn't have a release date yet, but Hangar 13 has promised an additional look at the game in December. We've also received a brief description of what the next installment will be about:
“Discover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Country“A gritty mafia story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily,” it reads.
“Fight to survive in this dangerous and unforgiving era, with action brought to life by the authentic realism and rich storytelling offered by the acclaimed series. Mafia The series is known for.”
