Read all about it: This month's best Kindle deal
There were some good Kindle deals during July, but the discounts right now aren't particularly attractive. Although I admit that a 21% discount on the latest Kindle Paperwhite might tempt some customers; it certainly would be if I needed one (I already have three Kindles!).
I reviewed the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2024) for TechRadar (heck, I apparently did over 30 reviews of E Ink e-readers and tablets for these posts!) and loved the screen. The E Ink Carta 1300 screen shines here, and everything Amazon has done with the software to tune performance has worked. Everything is fast and agile and just the way you want it. I can't complain about the battery life either.
My biggest complaint was that this modified software is quite large and if you go for the standard Paperwhite with its 16GB storage, the OS takes up about 4.5GB, leaving you with 11.5GB. That's enough for thousands of e-books, but if you also buy audiobooks from the Kindle Store, you'll run out of storage pretty quickly.
The other issue I have is that Amazon has disabled Bluetooth connectivity in Australia, so you can't actually listen to the audiobooks you download through paired headphones. To me, that diminishes the value per dollar of the device.
And yet, this is the best Kindle deal out there right now.

Air fry + steam + discount = deliciously healthy food
There aren't too many air fryers that allow you to steam, but this Philips 5000 series model does. It's a rare breed, but having steam means that not only can you steam vegetables and meatballs in a deep fryer (steaming in a deep fryer sounds like an oxymoron!), but you can also combine steaming and air frying.
You read that right, there's a dedicated air + steam frying mode on this dual basket appliance, making it great for keeping moisture inside tender meat while still getting crispy skin on chicken and pork belly. The steam option is only for the larger basket.
This premium model also has a steam clean feature, but there are caveats which you can learn more about in my detailed review of the Philips 5000 Series Dual Basket XXL Air Fryer.
Yes, I tried it myself and found it very useful to have in the kitchen, despite not having steam in both baskets. Everything he cooks turns out very well, I have no complaints! I haven't tried baking anything in it yet though… Anyway, if you've got the space to store a double basket air fryer, this generous 44% discount is worth considering (and it's only AU$9 more than July's Prime Day price).

What's in my cart?
That image gives it away, right? Yes, there is an electric toothbrush in my cart.
Let me provide a little context here. I've been using the Oral-B Genius 9000 toothbrush since 2017, then I was offered a smart sonic toothbrush late last year to try and you can read all about it in my Oclean
Unfortunately, my old Genius 9000 no longer charges, so it's time to buy a new Oral-B. I was looking at the Oral-B iO6, which is the middle child of the entire iO series and gives you all the brushing intelligence of the more expensive models, but misses out on some features, like the interactive screen and magnetic charging stand.
It turns out that the iO 7, which has the aforementioned display and stand, is now discounted to the same price as the iO 6 on Amazon (well, the black variant does anyway), so why not go for the one with more features? There you have it: I'm buying the Oral-B iO 7 in black.

Hello buyers! If you've just joined TechRadar's live coverage of Amazon's October Prime Day sale, then you've come at the right time.
It's day 3 of the sale (we're halfway through Prime Big Deals Days right now) and the good news is that we've seen some price drops since the sale started. Case in point: the Bose QuietComfort Ultra SC which started on sale at 30% off and is now a whopping 53% off.
There are plenty more deals out there that are over 50% off and one of my colleagues has dug up 16 deals that are currently half price or better and that means there are plenty of savings to be had right now.
Should you wait for Black Friday? That's up to you: if a price seems right to you, get it now and don't look back later.
