Yuhan Wang had a lot of fun with his fall 2024 collection.
Joy and confidence were on display as models dressed in broad-shouldered civilian robes reimagined with sheer lace and hairstyles between barrister wigs and what a Victorian ingenue would dress walked the runway to music that played Elle Woods' famous lines in ” Legally Blonde.”
Wang said she wanted to pay tribute to prominent female figures in the legal system, such as Rose Heilbron, Sandra Day O'Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who fought against gender discrimination and brought style to the US Supreme Court during their tenure.
“These influential justice icons not only moved the culture forward, but also empowered women to advocate for justice,” Wang said.
She proposed dramatic shapes inspired by court attire, such as a sweeping vegan leather cape, a poplin shirt with an oversized collar, and an off-the-shoulder lace dress. But there were also elegant tailored jackets, frayed two-piece ensembles and elegant tweed dresses fit for the courtroom.
Wang retained her sexy and sweet hyper-feminine aesthetic with adorable ceramic sculpture motifs of roses and horses.
