US-based Nike and Jacquemus unveil Spring 2024 collection

Nike and Jacquemus collaborations, from the beginning, have revitalized and celebrated the nuanced facets and ever-evolving dimensions of what it means to be a contemporary athlete. No exception, the Nike x Jacquemus Spring 2024 collection promotes the belief that sport is not simply about performance, but also about an expansion of style and self.

For Simon Porte Jacquemus, sport maintains a fluid relationship with style. Jacquemus, his eponymous brand, first collaborated with Nike in summer 2022, mixing elevated silhouettes with athletic ready-to-wear for a debut collection inspired by vintage ACG and Nike campaigns from the '90s. More recent collaborations , like the 2023 J Force 1, inspired in part by the Air Force 1, an icon of both performance and style, look equally at home in an art museum as they do in inhabited spaces in the outside world.

The Nike x Jacquemus Spring 2024 collection perfectly combines sport and style, with innovative designs and the iconic Swoosh. World track and field champion Sha'Carri Richardson embodies the collection's spirit of self-expression and athleticism. Richardson's unique style and fierce athleticism make her the perfect muse for this dynamic collection.

Femininity. Be true to yourself. Connecting with nature. Performance. Speed. These concepts are woven into the latest Nike x Jacquemus Spring 2024 collection, which spans six women's apparel pieces; a unisex T-shirt, hoodie and sweatpants with laser-cut Swoosh patterns; a premium brown nubuck update of the J Force 1 and the piece de resistance: Le Swoosh Bag – the first time Nike's iconic Swoosh has been imagined on a bag and also the first Nike x Jacquemus accessory.

“At the end of 2020, when we started working on the Le Swoosh bag, I was obsessed with the Swoosh itself. It is a unique logo, I wanted to reinterpret it and make it minimalist,” he says. Simon Porte Jacquemus. “Plus, I always love to work on unique shapes when it comes to bags, and not just think about their usefulness. I wanted a statement accessory that represented Nike in its purest form: the iconic Swoosh.

“For me,” he continues, “the Swoosh is the definitive Nike logo that transcends all generations and all collections throughout the years and decades. With its minimalism and unique shape, it allows creatives to work with infinite designs and interpretations around it.”

For their Spring 2024 campaign, Nike and Jacquemus have enlisted world track and field champion, Olympic hopeful, Nike athlete and one of the most graceful and fastest women in the world, Sha'Carri Richardson. Not only does she embody the collection and serve as the muse for the campaign, but she also represents the dimensions and depth of an athlete who constantly faces her fiercest and most consistent competition: self.

“Fashion is very personal and I definitely use it to express myself: it can show how you feel, your mood and your creativity. From the colors you wear to the risks you take, fashion can be an outlet to show the world a little bit of who you are,” he says. sha'carri. “And that's why I'm inspired by Simon's collection; The pieces are edgy and elegant at the same time and inspire me to continue showing myself as I am, while I hope to inspire others to do the same.”

When asked about the moment she knew she wanted to work with Sha'Carri, Jacquemus said: “I was surprised by Sha'Carri's performance in 2023 in Budapest, when she became world champion in the women's 100 meters. She also loved how she kept her own style and she was so fierce and unique when she competed, regardless of the rules of dress and uniforms. It's so powerful to be yourself in the athletic world! I instantly wanted to collaborate with her.”

The Nike x Jacquemus Spring 2024 collection launches on February 26 at jacquemus.com and globally at select Nike retailers on March 5. The Le Swoosh bag is available exclusively at jacquemus.com.
