The British Fashion Council presents the new wave 2024: creatives

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has presented its New Wave: Creatives 2024, a list of the 50 most innovative and inspiring young creative talents who play a fundamental role within the global fashion industry. The dynamic roster includes pioneers from multiple disciplines, including casting directors, photographers, art directors, hair and makeup artists, image makers, nail artists, set designers and stylists. The 50 finalists will be celebrated as part of the Fashion Awards (TFA) 2024 on December 2 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

TFA, hosted by BFC, is the premier fundraiser for the BFC Foundation and celebrates fashion's role at the intersection of culture and entertainment, spotlighting creative talent and telling the stories of the year in fashion through lens of purpose, excellence and creativity.

The BFC has announced its 2024 New Wave: Creatives, highlighting 50 young talents in various fashion disciplines. These people will be honored at the Fashion Awards 2024 on December 2. This initiative aims to recognize and support the diverse voices that are reshaping the industry, with the final selection guided by a panel of respected figures from the global fashion community.

“New Wave: Creatives is an invaluable platform to recognize and celebrate the diverse talents shaping the future of fashion, the community beyond designers and creative directors. These emerging artists, often working behind the scenes, are redefining creativity across multiple disciplines and transforming the way fashion is experienced globally. The 2024 cohort represents an exciting new generation with innovative and diverse perspectives that are key to the evolution of the industry. “We look forward to celebrating their contributions this December.” Caroline Rush, Chief Executive, British Fashion Councilsaying.

The shortlist is a resource for the global fashion industry that can support and inform the selection of equipment for creative projects (accessible here). This list is also invaluable to the work of the BFC, which continues to support and engage New Wave: Creatives alumni in various programs, events and initiatives. This includes hiring Julie Lie to design the TFA 2023 trophy, Derrick Ofosu Boateng as the winners' lounge photographer at TFA 2023, Tami Aftab as the South Asia exhibition photographer during LFW in June 2024, and Jade Adeyemi to design the 2024 TFA trophy, the BFC said in a press release.

This year, voting began in July with New Wave: 2023 Creatives: The previous year's community directly influences the 2024 outcome, supporting their industry peers.
