Swedish brand H&M presents a fun collection for back to school 2024

Capitalising on the biggest kidswear moment of the year, H&M presents Back to School 2024. The collection is defined by playful minimalism with refined basics and a preppy twist. Pieces include a faux leather jacket and dress, workwear-inspired jackets, a cropped trench coat, rugby shirts and jeans. White, black, grey and beige with hints of red and sky blue make up the colour palette. H&M’s Back to School 2024 kidswear collection will be available in-store and online at hm.com from July.

“The Back to School collection has a playful minimalism – a mix of classic basics with details like polka dot prints, bows, workwear touches and flared legs. The preppy side comes from rugby and polo references, poplin shirts and miniskirts paired with socks and loafers. Layering is key and this collection has all the pieces to make it as easy as possible,” she says. Sofia Löfstedt, creative and design director for children's fashion at H&M.

H&M's Back to School 2024 collection features playful minimalism and preppy basics. Key pieces include faux leather jackets, workwear-inspired jackets, rugby shirts and denim. The colour palette is white, black, grey, beige, with red and sky blue. For girls, highlights include faux leather dresses and glittery denim. For boys, workwear and denim details.

For the ladies, the black faux leather shift dress has a simple silhouette that can be dressed up or down. A collared blouse with a bow underneath makes it sweeter, while pairing it with a hoodie makes it more casual. Monochromatic polka dots all over add energy and playfulness to wide-leg trousers and a boxy sweatshirt. An A-line miniskirt and matching jacket in striking dark glitter denim call for a simple white T-shirt underneath. And for more classic looks, a blue shirt with balloon sleeves and bow detail is paired with wide-leg jeans, or a grey pinstripe pleated miniskirt, a light blue shirt and a bright red jumper for a pop of colour. Complete either look with a cropped trench coat.

For the guys, the denim-on-denim combination is enhanced with workwear detailing and a contrasting black collar on the jacket. Add a pop of colour with a red T-shirt underneath. Or a black and white striped rugby shirt paired with denim cargo shorts and a khaki work jacket. With baggy jeans and a black faux leather bomber jacket, the result is relaxed with a contemporary twist.
