SWAIA Native Fashion Week announces the line-up for the inaugural event in Santa Fe


SWAIA Native Fashion Week (SNFW), billed as the first Indigenous Fashion Week produced in the United States, has revealed its list of participating designers for this year's event, set to begin on May 2, 2024. in Santa Fe.

Focusing on Native American and Indigenous Canadian talent, the roster includes a wide range of creative visionaries who will showcase their unique perspectives on fashion and culture.

Notable designers include Angela DeMontigny of Ayimach_Lodge, Rachelle Whitewind and Jason Baerg, along with Carrie Wood under the label “chizhii” and Dehmin Cleland.

Other participants include Pamela Baker of TOC Legends, Peshawn Bread of House of Sutai, Justin Jacob Louis, Lesley Hampton, Loren Aragon of Towering Stone and Maria Hupfield. Rounding out the lineup are Orlando Dugi, Patricia Michaels, Qaulluq, Randy Leigh Barton and Victoria's Arctic Fashion.

The inaugural fashion week will begin with a media launch event at the New Mexico Governor's Mansion. Following the launch, a mini fashion symposium was held with panel discussions addressing topics such as “Why is Native American fashion important?” and a “Designer-Focused Fashion Hub” will be held on Friday, May 3.

Highlights of the event will unfold over the weekend, with Saturday and Sunday dedicated to headline fashion shows, fashion shows and brand activation spaces. Ticket sales for SNFW are scheduled to begin at the end of March 2024.

More announcements regarding additional designers and special guests are expected in the coming months.
