Siouxsie and the Banshees revival

The house of Versace has always loved a touch of punk and enjoyed a big infusion on Friday night in Milan, with a revival collection by Siouxsie and The Banshees.

It's a very stylish punk revival of sorts, though, with a cast sporting the late singer's spiky hairstyles and Siouxsie's classic song 'Carcass' blasting from the speakers.

Versace has never been a quiet brand or house, and there was a raw quality to DJ Frederic Sanchez's soundtrack which included a song called 'Love Is A Punk' by Louisahhh.

Presented inside the Fiera di Milano with a large set inspired by the million-euro Space Odyssey and wonderfully winding ramps, where dozens of models walked along a thick fur carpet until they reached a central pit.

The great thing about this collection was that Donatella didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but instead played with all the brand's classic codes.

For the girls, I had Uptown Siouxsie in shiny, very sexy tweed bouclé jackets paired with miniskirts or stretch pants. Matinee idol Siouxsie in strict tuxedo cocktails, some with dazzling anthracite sequins; or Siouxsie on her way to closing a record deal in a fitted jacket, leggings and the boot of the season: the buccaneer. Or, more explosively, Gigi Siouxsie Hadid in a femme fatale dominatrix crepe governess dress.

For the boys, gold silk shirts with the head of Medusa along with some very striking tailored pieces, such as the Savile Row five-pocket matchbook jacket. Referencing her late dear friend Prince, whom she visited in Paisley Park.

Many fiery red or rusty brown looks in pony skin, very similar to the current fabric in Milan.

“Rebellious attitude with a good heart,” Donatella said backstage, after posing in a black men's tuxedo like a fashion empress on a long white staircase.

Still, even at 68, the reigning queen of rock 'n' roll fashion.
