Kering has announced the appointment of Seán McGirr as the new creative director of British luxury fashion brand Alexander McQueen. McGirr, an Irish citizen born in Dublin, was previously director of ready-to-wear at JW Anderson.
Kering has announced Irish national Seán McGirr as the new creative director of British luxury fashion brand Alexander McQueen. McGirr, who was previously head of ready-to-wear at JW Anderson, brings extensive experience in both men’s and women’s fashion. Educated at Central Saint Martins, McGirr began his career at Burberry and Vogue Hommes Japan.
McGirr joined JW Anderson in 2020, initially overseeing men’s collections before expanding her role to include womenswear. Before that, she worked as a women’s designer for Dries Van Noten in Antwerp. From 2014 to 2018, McGirr was a key player in Uniqlo’s creative offices in Tokyo and Paris, focusing on men’s collections under the direction of Christophe Lemaire.
Educated at Central Saint Martins in London, where he earned a Masters in Fashion in 2014, McGirr began his career helping at Burberry and Vogue Hommes Japan.
