The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is the host of the first exhibition in the United States completely dedicated to the work of the French fashion icon Jeanne Lanvin, now until August 31.
Nickname “Jeanne Lanvin: Haute Couture Heritage”, the exhibition presents more than 60 creations in honor of the French couturière and her lasting legacy.
“Scad Fash cuts an immaculate silhouette with the first show in the United States of Couturière Jeanne Lanvin, offering a transcendent opportunity for students and guests to experience the infallible eye of Madame Lanvin for elegance, closely and deeply personal,” said the president and founder of Scad, Paula Wallace.
“With the iconic style tunic and its innovative patterns inspired by Art Deco, Lanvin embodies the rare grace of a past era. Once again, Scad Fash demonstrates the perfect place to organize the remarkable work of the best luminaires of the fashion in history!”
Commissioned exclusively by Gaël Mamine, head of collections of Fundation Azzedine Alaïa, in collaboration with Lanvin Heritage, the Parodi costume collection and the creative director of Scad Fash, Rafael Gomes, the exhibition shows the garments of the designer Azzedine Alaïa, the personal archive of the date of the date 1890 until 1940.
Among the most prominent aspects is Style's theft, the most emblematic silhouette of Lanvin, which offered a sophisticated alternative to the dresses of the fin of the 1920s with its wide fall skirt fall. The firm of the “Lanvin Blue” house infuses the design of the exhibition, immersing visitors even more in their world.
The retrospect also includes pieces of the Parodi costume collection in Miami, and a documentary produced by Scad, House of Lanvin, which explores the origins of the house and the current revival under the direction of designer Peter Copping.
An ATelier haute couture installation replica in the SCAD Fash film hall offers a look behind the Copping creative process for their debut 2025 collections. Similarly, guests can discover original sketches and file photographs.
“It is a real honor to collaborate with Scad Fash to reveal the private collection of Jeanne Lanvin that Azzedine Alaïa accumulated since 1968,” Mamine said.
“Alaïa had the vision of preserving the history of French design, the 'Haute Couture Savoir Faire', and the work of the harvesters and designers he admired. This exhibition is dedicated to Jeanne Lanvin, a pioneer in the history of the story that founded his own house of Couture in the early 1900s and the first designator to create modes for mothers and doughters With those refined with the refined ones and the first designator to create modifications for mothers and daughters, combining Le Bon Gouture with those refined with the refined ones and the first designating to create modifications for mothers and daughters, combining LE de Bon Gouture with the refined ones.
