The designer Rahul Mishra took his models on a trip along the silk route for his AFEW brand in Lakmē Fashion Week in association with the Indian Fashion Design Council in a parade made in collaboration with Nexa. Mix the textile traditions and global aesthetics, Mishra chose the celebrity of Bollywood Janhvi Kapoor as your showstopper for autumn/ winter 2025.
This season, Rahul Mishra played with proportion to create sculptural looks for men and women with AFEW. Inspired by the historical trade routes that linked the east and west, the Silk route explored the exchange of goods, ideas and crafts that shape global cultures, with India positioned in the heart of this interaction.
The collection reflected the fluid exchange of ideas and materials, fusing Bandhani textile traditions from India and Shibori of Japan, while based on European art, in particular the scenes of Henri Rousseau's jungle. Kapoor closed the show in a dramatic black robe that revealed a bright and tall slim dress underneath, adding elegant to the extravagant silhouettes of the collection.
When reflecting this intersection of the past and the future, the track presented blind spot mirror structures, alluding to Nexa's car technology. “The collaboration of the e-vitarra with Rahul Mishra aligned without problems with Nexa's mission to redefine luxury and innovation in the automotive space,” said Partho Banerjee, senior executive officer of marketing and sales in Maruti Suzuki in a press release.
Lakmē Fashion Week in association with the FDCI was executed from March 26 to 30 in Mumbai. The event organized brands like Ott by Tarun Tahiliani, Saaksha & Kinni and Shantnu Nikhil, among others.
