Primark launches back-to-school price freeze programme

Back-to-school (BtS) prices at Primark will be frozen on “hundreds” of essential items so that “families can continue shopping… at the same low prices as in 2021,” the fashion and lifestyle retail giant has announced.

This year's head-to-toe price freezes apply to items including jeans, sweatpants, long-sleeved T-shirts and jackets.

That long-sleeved T-shirt plus leggings and zip-up sweatshirt combo is priced at £8.30, she noted.

The price freeze comes after the retailer cited figures from the PwC Retail Outlook 2024 report showing that 48% of British households expect to spend less on BtS this year “due to rising costs of everyday products”.

“Primark is committed to continuing to support families to achieve more with low prices that don’t compromise on quality and children’s essentials designed to last longer,” she said.

Primark also noted that it is now a popular destination outside of the clothing market, which includes footwear and stationery, lunchboxes and backpacks.

Gavin Daniels, childrenswear director at Primark, added: “Our message to concerned shoppers this year is simple: with Primark, you are guaranteed great value and style at super affordable prices, with the added reassurance that our clothes are made to last.”
