Italian fashion house Prada has officially opened its Pradasphere II exhibition at the Start Museum in Shanghai, China.
The exhibition, curated by co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, offers an intimate and expansive narrative, spanning from Prada's origins in 1913 to the present day.
At the heart of the exhibition is the main 'Magazzino' hall, displaying almost 200 looks from Prada's collections. The hallway serves as a gateway to a series of special rooms, each designed to evoke unique Prada spaces.
Among these spaces is 'Fratelli Prada', a recreation of a fragment of the original Fratelli Prada store in Milan. this room is cComplete with super high-resolution videos of original objects and recreations of murals commissioned by Mario Prada in the early 1920s.
Other themed rooms include 'Prada A Milano', showcasing photographs by Albert Watson and samples of Miuccia Prada's first Nylon collection, and 'Gallery', featuring new artworks by Damien Hirst alongside iconic bags from the Prada archive.
The exhibition also extends to other spaces, such as 'Green Store', which recreates a fragment of the iconic Prada store, and 'Cinema', which presents an ongoing program of Prada collaborations with renowned directors.
“Architecture” offers never-before-shown documents related to Prada’s major architectural projects, while “Materiality” showcases skirts on display for the first time created exclusively for Shanghai Pradasphere.
The exhibition builds on the success of the inaugural Pradasphere in 2014 and will run until January 21, 2024.
