Pop Mart toys were front row stars at the Pronounce Fall 2024 fair – World Water Day

Move over celebrities and TikTok users, toys are now front-row stars. Two Pop Mart The Monsters dolls captured all the attention before the show by Pronounce, the Chinese brand founded by Yushan Li and Jun Zhou in 2016.

Appropriately dressed in looks from the brand and escorted by a handful of people who constantly groom their fur between camera clicks, the unusual guests embodied the collaboration between the designer collectible toy brand and the duo, which was part of the fall collection 2024 that they presented in Milan. – Pronounce's first after the presentations divided between London and Shanghai.

Li and Zhou's effort dovetails with the city's tailoring-focused season so far, bringing their own roots to the conversation. The duo cited butterflies as a starting point for their creative process, referring to “The Dream of Butterflies,” a notable passage by Chinese philosopher Zhuangzi.

The shape of the insect's wings and the trail of its fluttering trajectory inspired the playful 3D motifs created on corduroy rope pants, as well as the looped graphics that mark most of the line through contrasting inserts or tonal effects. on tone.

These patterns were highlighted in a series of well-executed sartorial coats and denim ensembles, as well as striking changshan jackets and Mao suits, ultimately creating cohesion in the East-West dialogue that the designers wanted to express.

The crazy theme also inspired bold wool looks in silk and alpaca, as well as beautiful knitwear, which also came with illustrations of Pop Mart toys for a fun touch.

Pronounce's deadstock fabrics from previous efforts also made their way into the range, as seen in two slinky dresses that appeared abruptly on the runway, but felt out of place in this cool collection.
