Paolo Carzana Fall 2024 Ready to Wear Catwalk, Fashion Show and Collection Review

What is the view like from the top of the mountain?

It might look like Paolo Carzana's fall 2024 collection, where delicate silk chiffon, organic cotton twill (sometimes waxed, sometimes not), and vintage cotton voile surrounded the models as if invisible winds from the top of a mountain were buffeting them. your surroundings.

“It was the idea of traveling up a mountain and everything you endure, weathering a storm to get to the top and be in the light,” Carzana said backstage about the inspiration for the collection.

Perhaps art emerged from life: the designer himself is at the top of the industry, recently shortlisted for the LVMH Prize 2024 and just featured in the “Rebel: 30 Years of London Fashion” exhibition.

Looks ranged from lighter than air to practically rockin': blouses, pants, bloomers and dresses with exposed, raw seams that rustled around the body, while garments made from hand-waxed silk and cotton emulated battle-marked stones. .

The earth tones (creams, olives, sands, blacks) were punctuated with sunshine yellow and sky blue and, in typical Carzana style, were painstakingly created from a mix of plants and herbs, such as rose, black walnut and roses.

While the romanticism in Carzana's work usually evokes fairies flitting barefoot through fields, this season she felt more down to earth. And with two cloud-shaped looks closing the show, the collection reached the skies.
