Montreal Fashion Week (MFW) will return this fall from September 23 to 30 for its fifth edition.
This year's edition will have six exclusive events, including the return of designer Eliza Faulkner to the track, a new chapter by Maison Marie Saint Pierre and a presentation of the emerging MRKNTN label. The program also includes the exhibition of the African mode at the McCord Stewart Museum, the creations of Anne-Marie Chagnon and an immersive experience of the Fuite Lignes Track, highlighting three promising designers.
Sustainability remains fundamental for programming, with activations such as a “lunch and learning” on the responsible supply organized by Core Fabrics and Collective Détour, the Fashion Montreal debut takes the Action Remode Festival, and workshops on recycling directed by Charles Hulin. Community initiatives from groups such as Concertation MTL, Atelier Promotion 21, The Shoebox Project and Le Chaînon Thrift Store will also be presented.
“We have adopted a sustainable and participatory formula adapted to the reality of our industry. Much more than an event calendar, MFW is a unique showcase that allows everyone to contribute and shine in its own way,” said Mathieu St-Arnaud Lavoie, executive director of MMODE and Montreal Fashion Week.
“On this fifth anniversary, we embody the vitality of our industry more than ever and reaffirm our commitment to build a responsible, inclusive and sustainable fashion ecosystem in Quebec.”
MFW was relaunched in 2021 under the direction of MMODE, the metropolitan fashion cluster, whose objective is to unite and gather interested parties in the Quebec fashion industry.
The organizers expect almost 20,000 attendees in 95 activations in 14 neighborhoods of Montreal, supported by more than 100 organizations and brands, underlining the growing role of the event as a cultural and economic driver for the Quebec fashion industry.
