Miami Fashion Week kicks off today with Karl Kani as featured designer

Miami Fashion Week (MIAFW) begins its long-awaited event today, which will run until January 27. This year marks a significant evolution for MIAFW as it expands into the streetwear scene. The event will feature Karl Kani, the renowned “Godfather of Streetwear,” as the official featured designer.

For 26 years, MIAFW has served as a vibrant platform that transcends borders to celebrate fashion as art, culture and lifestyle. The event, held in the diverse city of Miami, serves as a cultural bridge uniting style enthusiasts from around the world. Returning to venues like the Gary Nader Museum of Art and its Botero exhibit, this year's event will fully immerse attendees into the world of MIAFW.

Miami Fashion Week (MIAFW) 2024 is experiencing a dynamic evolution with new dates and a foray into streetwear, with Karl Kani as official designer. Celebrating fashion, art and culture for 26 years, MIAFW returns to venues like the Gary Nader Museum of Art. The event showcases global creative forces, with a runway show dedicated to Karl Kani.

Expanding on its robust programming, MIAFW 2024 will pay tribute to Karl Kani with a dedicated runway show highlighting his signature designs. Inspired by Hip Hop and street culture, Karl Kani saw a gap in the market and began creating clothing at the age of 16. Today, Karl Kani is a global phenomenon, having introduced the concept of baggy jeans and the first urban design company with an all-black sales force. This landmark collaboration marks the first time the Karl Kani brand will headline MIAFW, and the first time the event features a streetwear designer.
