Max Mara’s next cruise show will set sail in Venice

Max Mara’s next cruise show will take place in Venice, the latest port city the Italian luxury fashion house has chosen for a major show.

“Max Mara is pleased to announce that the Max Mara Resort 2025 collection will be shown in Venice, Italy, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024,” the house said in a statement on Tuesday.

The election of the Most Serene Republic of Venice comes after shows in Stockholm and Porto, which won plaudits for their modernist takes on resort wear. In Stockholm, designer Ian Griffiths presented a collection inspired by Scandinavian culture and the region’s special place in women’s empowerment.

A collection whose icon was Selma Lagerlöf, the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and an author noted for her folkloric literature. A show that takes place inside the building that annually hosts the Nobel Prize ceremony.

While in Porto, Griffiths played with erotic feminism with clothing motivated by Natália Correia, the famous Portuguese freethinker, artistic grande dame, and café society star. Presented with a flourish at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, and in one of the largest private art collections in the world, built by an Armenian immigrant, who a century ago was the richest man in the world.

So expect a novel and historically significant venue for Max Mara’s next show. A brand that has helped expand its cultural impact and global footprint by staging hyper-refined shows in unexpected places, from an ancient history museum in Berlin to Italy’s trendiest new seaside hotel, the Mezzatorre in Ischia.
