Two days after it was revealed that Loewe had pulled out of the upcoming men's season in Paris, the house confirmed Wednesday that it will stage a co-ed show in the French capital in March.
“Loewe's men's collection will be presented alongside the women's collection in March,” the house confirmed to Fashion Network in a brief statement.
However, the decision to remove the Loewe men's show from the Paris men's runways still represents a substantial loss for that season. In recent years, under the direction of creative director Jonathan Anderson, Loewe has been the most anticipated show in Parisian men's fashion, famous for its dynamic collections, artistic and theatrical sets and its ultra-modern front row.
Loewe menswear shows, frequently held inside the glass-roofed riding school of the Garde Républicaine cavalry regiment, have often been the biggest menswear statement of the European season.
However, the news won't significantly diminish speculation that Anderson could be about to take on a major new position in fashion. Since it also emerged last week that he had removed his signature JW Anderson show from Milan's men's fashion calendar, where he has shown for several seasons. And it had removed its womenswear show from the provisional London Fashion Week schedule, which was released on Monday.
The Ulster-born designer's name has been linked with brands such as Dior, Louis Vuitton and Gucci for quite some time now.
The upcoming men's fashion seasons in Milan and Paris, respectively, will run from Friday, January 17 to Monday, January 20; and from Tuesday, January 21 to Sunday, January 26.
While the next London Fashion Week is scheduled from Thursday, February 20 to Monday, February 24. And the Paris women's ready-to-wear season will take place from Monday, March 3 to Tuesday, March 11.
