Levi Strauss has ended its lawsuit accusing Italian luxury fashion brand Brunello Cucinelli of infringing its familiar trademark rectangular pocket label.

Levi notified a federal judge in Oakland, California, on Tuesday that he was dismissing the case with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. Settlement talks began shortly after Levi filed suit in January.

Neither Levi nor his attorneys immediately responded to requests for comment. A spokeswoman for Brunello Cucinelli had no immediate comment.

Levi accused Brunello Cucinelli of selling clothing that contained “almost identical” copies of his listing, which the denim and other clothing retailer registered in 1938, and provided 14 photographs illustrating the alleged violation.

Based in San Francisco, Levi has filed several lawsuits in recent years to protect its lashes, saying selling infringing products would confuse consumers and cause irreparable harm to its goodwill.

Levi's brands also include Dockers and Beyond Yoga.

The company has settled similar lawsuits against Kering's Yves Saint Laurent and LVMH's Kenzo.

The case is Levi Strauss & Co v. Brunello Cucinelli USA Inc et al, United States District Court, Northern District of California, No. 24-00399.
