La DoubleJ Fall 2024 Runway, Fashion Show and Ready-to-Wear Collection Review

For fall, JJ Martin paid tribute to Florence, the Renaissance era, and “the power of the renaissance.” Celebrating Italian craftsmanship and one of the country's “most creative and innovative eras,” he didn't skimp on rich textures and motifs, as well as intricate embroidery, while keeping his silhouettes simple.

Martin chose the ideal setting for the performance, Milan's 15th-century Palazzo Isimbardi, with banners dressed in medieval costumes performing in the courtyard.

“The Uffizi [Museum] The vaults and their paintings, the emblems of the Medici family, the 'Gryphos' engraving, the reinvention of the legendary half-fish, half-horse hybrid were inspirations for some of the patterns,” said Martin in his characteristic cheerful and energetic style. There were many motifs, often symbolic, such as the pomegranate symbolizing fertility, he said, as well as romantic roses, bows, guardian angels, flowers, seashells and constellations.

“There is opulence, with brocades and embellishments, but I chose to balance the prints so that in some looks they are not full and complete,” she explained, while also offering crisp white cotton shirts and Lacey Visconti's black dress.

Martin experimented with fabrics and techniques, as in the beautiful velvet dresses with laser-cut lace or fil coupé that vibrated with an optical effect. Choosing the Renaissance was a smart decision, completely in sync with Martin's vision for the brand and celebrating abundance and self-expression. She has been steadily growing La DoubleJ and it's safe to say the collection is sure to speak to her “Sisterhood” fans and the customers surrounding her at the show.
