Keing has presented its new positive strategy for water, with the commitment to achieve a positive net impact for water by 2050 and promote positive water impacts for water in the key regions of its supply chain by 2035.

Kering

The initiative, announced on Earth Day by the French luxury group, owner of Gucci and Balenciaga, aims to reduce water consumption and actively regenerate water and its related ecosystems in the areas where Kering operates.

The strategy reflects a new phase in the sustainability approach supported by Kering's science, recognizing that the causes and consequences of climate change, loss of biodiversity and water shortage are inextricably linked.

Keing will focus on 10 priority water basins and work with local stakeholders to significantly improve water quality, quantity and accessibility in the basin regions.

The strategy will introduce a change in the Kering raw material supply policy, with an approach to fabrics that can relieve pressure on nature and water, such as recycled textiles and innovative alternatives.

Keing also aims to strengthen sustainable water management by themselves and the operations of its supply chain, through the adoption of innovative best practices and technologies, such as low -chrome -impact tannings.

To support the program, Keing will establish a water resilience laboratory in each of its 10 basins designated by 2035, working to regenerate fresh water ecosystems in areas with water stress. The first laboratory will be launched in the autumn of 2025 in the Arno River basin in La Toscana, home of many of the curves and their group suppliers.

“The need for the responsible corporate water administration to be maintained within the planetary limits has never been more urgent. It is crucial that water commitments evolve from a reduction approach only to become positive for water, regenerating and recovering water and ecosystems associated with all improve social, environmental and economic resilience and, ultimately, contribute to making it available to the clean water for everyone. Marie-Claire Daveu, main sustainability officer and institutional issues of Kering.
