Joseph follows Donald Judd and Parisian Café for fall 2024 – World Water Day

It’s a fitting combination that Joseph’s co-creative directors, Anna Lundback Dyhr and Frederik Dyhr, drew inspiration from American minimalist artist Donald Judd for their fall 2024 collection spanning three seasons, a signature move across all of their collections, where they combine three seasons.

The collection, like Judd’s work, plays primarily with prints and stripes, a Joseph motif, and solid colors like Hass green; bright ginkgo and merlot red.

“They’ve spent two months people-watching, sitting in a cafe in Paris talking about what people wear and the different patterns, so it’s inspired by coffee and wine,” Lundback Dyhr said, pointing out the tweeds and the jacquard knitwear.

The designer duo decided to slim down the silhouettes as a result of tiredness of the oversized look. The fabrics are lighter and follow the contours of the body.

Frederik and Anna were tired of seeing poorly cut long sleeves in the name of fashion.

“It’s so cute when the sleeve is a little shorter,” said Lundback Dyhr, reiterating the focus they’ve put on sharp tailoring: Joseph stripes make hidden cameos as pleats on the side of pants that can only be noticed in motion .

The extensive outerwear offerings complement Joseph’s core ethos of building a wardrobe.

“We always want to root things in the real world. It is not just about imagining and projecting an ideal version of a person,” said Lundback Dyhr.
