Jenny Packham looked at London and New York in the glam rock years, and thought of Jerry Hall, David Bowie and Roxy Music lead singer Bryan Ferry wearing their Antony Price suits with the swagger of Elvis Presley.
“It was a particularly stylish time and it gave us license to go completely glamorous this season,” Packham said.
She incorporated her signature powerful shoulders, fitted shapes, and love of sparkle into this collection, which had a bohemian feel with paisley patterns, jewel tones, and draped bell sleeves for a dramatic touch.
Embroidered paisley shapes floated across the front of a blue stretch crepe dress, while other swirling Indian textile patterns appeared as bright embellishments around the hips and neck of a teal dress.
Other dresses were adorned with what looked like luxurious Maharani jewelry. The neckline of a long black dress with structured shoulders was embroidered with crystals that looked like chunky diamonds, while another dress had wall-to-wall gold beads and sequins.
Meanwhile, faux gems adorned the waist, neck and sleeves of a sequin-covered dress.
While most of these designs came with Packham's powerful shoulders, others were softer and made to live under the spinning ball of glitter.
One amber chiffon dress came with a pleated skirt and large bell sleeves, while another had a strappy, jeweled swimsuit-style top and a long sequin skirt. A slinky ruby red dress paved with square sequins and rock crystal embroidery around the neck had a mermaid appeal.
Packham also added some separate pieces to the lineup. Among them was a T-shirt blouse adorned with a crystal-encrusted collar and a square-edged jacket embroidered with sapphire and ruby stars for all the rock stars who inspired the collection.
