Manteco has closed a major deal in early 2024. The Prato-based Italian textile producer, founded in 1943, has acquired a 100% stake in Casentino Lane, a spinning and carding specialist located in the Tuscan region of Casentino, a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for wool production since the 14th century.

“We are very proud to be able to preserve this historic and ultra-specialized spinning and carding factory with which we have collaborated for many years and with which we shared the same passion for innovation from the beginning. and research, always putting sustainability and the circular approach at the forefront,” said Matteo Mantellassi, Deputy CEO of Manteco.

The acquisition, thanks to which Casentino Lane's 27 skilled workers will retain their jobs, allows Manteco to carry out a key stage of its fabric production in-house. Casentino Lane will guarantee Manteco an annual yarn production of approximately 700,000 kg.

“We have concluded a very important operation that puts a first-class supplier at our disposal, but this is only the first step. The factory, which extends over more than 4,000 square meters, will be the subject of significant investments in terms of sustainability and innovation,” said Marco Mantellassi, deputy general director of Manteco.

In 2022, Manteco recorded revenues of 97 million euros, 18% more than the previous year and higher than its revenues in 2019, before the pandemic. The company generates around 80% of its business outside Italy, especially in the rest of Europe (mainly France, northern Europe and Spain) and the United States.
