Jack Miner referenced the past to comment on the present for Interior's fall 2024 collection, drawing inspiration from the New York City nightlife of the '70s, '80s and '90s to address the current era of social media.
“It was a very powerful moment to look at our women in relation to where we are today as a society and to think about a time in New York when visual people were valued differently than we see them today,” Miner said during the presentation of the brand.
The collection featured 10 looks, with each model representing a nightclub archetype, such as the model, the painter, the off-duty dancer, the socialite and the prostitute. Each look was different, but complemented the others through the use of rich fabrics and a muted color palette of black and neutrals.
Miner explained that the collection continues Interior's design code of subverting sportswear. This was seen through subtle but striking details of traditional silhouettes, such as an oversized striped coat where the pattern was torn and a romantic navy chiffon dress with an unraveled hem. The styles showed that the brand's expertise is in the details, taking classic styles and making them modern and youthful through these understated design elements.
The collection offered a balance between feminine and masculine styles, which Interior has become known for. More feminine silhouettes, like a lace column dress and a bronze silk dress, gave an airy balance to the more masculine layered designs.
The men's styles showcased Interior's skills in tailoring. A black denim jacket and matching jeans gave off a cool yet stylish vibe, while a '70s-style tan suit helped bridge the gap between past and present.
Interior's fall 2024 collection further demonstrated the brand's abilities to offer a balance of interesting men's and women's pieces, while building on existing design codes to offer newness.
