Euro zone inflation will durably reach the European Central Bank's 2% target over the course of 2025, ECB President Christine Lagarde told a French newspaper, largely repeating her recent message.
“Perhaps we could have started intervening a few months earlier, but we raised rates at an unprecedented pace and managed to significantly reduce inflation in a short period,” Lagarde told Le Monde in an interview published Thursday.
“Now I want that 2% target to be achieved in a lasting way. In the absence of a major shock, this will be the case in the course of 2025.”
