During the presentation of the results for the 2023 financial year, which broke sales and profit records, the Inditex group announced strategic measures to boost its logistics progress. Among them, the construction of a new center in Zaragoza of 286,000 square meters stands out. In addition, it will begin operations in two new logistics complexes in the Valencian Community and will improve the capacity of its Lelystad facilities in the Netherlands.

The new Inditex center in Zaragoza, located in the Malpica industrial estate, will be dedicated to the distribution of Zara. It will be the company's second complex in the region and the flagship brand's fifth in the city. To date, Zara already operates a 325,000 square meter center in Zaragoza, whose expansion will be inaugurated in 2023, which serves as a hub for shipping women's clothing to its European stores.

These new facilities are prepared to generate approximately 1,500 direct employment opportunities, according to the president of Aragón, Jorge Azcón, during a press conference this Wednesday. He praised the Galician group's new investment and stated that it “reinforces Aragon's position as a logistics power in southern Europe and underlines our commitment to being at the forefront of attracting investment, innovation and technology.”

According to local newspaper Heraldo de Aragón, the future facility will have three levels of storage and associated technical premises. In addition, it will have 113 loading docks and an adjacent 6,675 square meter office building.

“This center will become an international benchmark, not only in logistics but also in three crucial elements for the development of Aragon: innovation, technology and sustainability,” Azcón added during his speech.

The construction of this complex is part of Inditex's investment program to expand its logistics capacity, to which the group will allocate 900 million euros for the years 2024 and 2025. In addition to the Zaragoza center, the company will inaugurate a new distribution center of Bershka of 116,000 square meters and a Tempe center of 141,000 square meters, both in the Valencian Community. In addition, it will expand its facilities in Lelystad by 123,000 square meters.

“All of these centers will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and will meet the highest sustainability standards,” highlighted Óscar García Maceiras, general director of Inditex, during the presentation of results. “The main objective of the logistics expansion project is to capitalize on new business opportunities,” he added.

This logistical investment will be complemented by an additional 1.8 billion euros aimed at optimizing commercial space, integrating technology and improving online platforms.
