Gucci will present the Cruise 2027 show in New York

The luxury brand Gucci will present its next Cruise 2027 fashion show in New York. The show, which has a top-secret location, will take place on May 16 and will mark new creative director Demna Gvasalia's first Cruise collection for the Kering brand.

“New York occupies a fundamental place in Gucci's history: it was here, in 1953, that the House opened its first boutique abroad, marking the beginning of the brand's international expansion,” reads a Gucci statement.

Therefore, the fashion house returns to the Big Apple for a show in a city that “has always embodied the spirit of creativity and cultural dialogue, a place where audacity and modernity continue to meet and inspire each other,” the statement concludes.

Demna joined Gucci last summer in a reshuffle of creative directors within the Kering group that brought Pierpaolo Piccioli to Balenciaga and Alessandro Michele to Valentino. Her first event for the Florentine house took place in Milan with a see now buy now format during the last women's fashion week.

Florence hosted Gucci's latest Cruise collection for 2026, designed by the in-house team, pending the Georgian designer taking the creative reins of the brand from the outgoing Sabato De Sarno.

Gucci is at the center of the revitalization strategy of the French group Kering, of which it is the flagship brand. In recent days, some details of the group's new CEO Luca de Meo's plan to reduce his dependence on the Florentine house have been revealed, including the creation of a new unit dedicated to identifying emerging brands in which to invest, called 'House of Dreams'.

The decision means that four of Europe's top 10 fashion brands plan to present shows in the United States in the next six months.

As reported, New York is also the site of Chanel's upcoming Métiers d'Art show on December 2, while Louis Vuitton will present its next Cruise show in the Big Apple on May 20. And Dior, another brand within the LVMH group that also owns Vuitton, will travel to Los Angeles to showcase Jonathan Anderson's first Cruise collection on May 13.
