Three brands (Jaywalking, Countrymade and Rishta by Arjun Saluja), each with a distinct style and voice within the context of Indian menswear, will present collections in a specially curated combined showcase.
GQ India and Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) collaborate for GQ x FDCI Men's Edit at LFW, featuring collections from Jaywalking, Countrymade and Rishta by Arjun Saluja. Jaywalking, known for urban fashion, returns after five years; Countrymade fuses military themes with Indian craftsmanship; and Arjun Saluja's Rishta explores deconstructed silhouettes.
Jaywalking, a homegrown brand considered one of the biggest streetwear brands that started the cultural hype movement in India, is run by 30-year-old Jay Jajal. Founded in 2019, this will be the Mumbai-based founder's first exhibition in five years.
Countrymade first made waves in 2019 when founder and designer Sushant Abrol showcased his debut collection at the FDCI India Fashion Week, in the youth category. With thought-provoking narratives about the military, a contemporary approach to design is needed while preserving the artisanal strength of Indian craftsmanship.
Rishta by Arjun Saluja is synonymous with deconstructed silhouettes that explore new shapes. Saluja, being a master of unconventional storytelling in fashion, is making a long-awaited return to the runway after almost six years, the company said in a press release.
“Interest in men's fashion is increasing and this exhibition reflects the dynamism, texture and variation of the men's fashion universe across the country,” he said Che Kurrien, Head of Editorial Content at GQ India.
“Witness the resurgence of men's fashion with the GQ xFDCI Men'sEdit show that encapsulates the vibrant interplay of textures, colors and styles that shape the ever-changing landscape of modern menswear.” Chairman, FDCI, Sunil Sethisaying.
