Glenn Martens will make his debut on the track in Maison Margiela during the next sewing in Paris in July.

The Belgian designer will begin his mandate in the house based in Paris with a artisanal collection Maison Margiela for the autumn season 2025. The next haute couture of Paris Paris of four days extends from July 7 to 10 and will feature shows of almost 30 marques.

“This (show) marks the beginning of a new inspiring chapter for the Maison, rooted in our central creative values and formed with Margiela's haute couture heritage. Under the direction of Glenn, Couture will continue to light creativity for the brand and boost the designos that push the limits,” said Maison Margiela in a statement.

Martin Margiela founded her brand in 1988 in Paris, going to build a great reputation for her off-rhythm clothes, worn finishes, frayed seams and hyper-Discreet attitude. Margiela never revealed after any show, a tradition strictly followed by Galliano, who previously, in his own home and in Dior, was famous for long and attacks elaborately.

In 2006, OTB, the main investment vehicle of the Italian fashion businessman Renzo Rosso, acquired complete control of the Margiela brand, the same year that Maison Margiela Artisanal entered the High Sewing of Chambre Syndivee de la Haute, which controls the season of the Paris track.

The biggest OTB brand is the Diesel jeans label, and Rosso also appointed Mars its creative director in 2020. The arrival of Mars to Margiela bends with the brand's roots in Belgium, its unconventional style and extravagance.

Before joining Diesel, Martens spent more than a decade as a designer of Y/Project, an independent label very admired for its combination of discharge and unfinished aesthetics.

Like many of the best Belgian designers, Martens graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp. After Jean Paul Gaultier saw Marsn's graduation show, he hired Glenn to be a junior women's clothing designer at his home in Paris. In 2022, Gaultier continued the compliment when Martens organized a haute couture show for Jean Paul's house, part of a unique series of collaborations in the brand owned by Puig.

Martens will make his debut in the haute couture in an occupied season that will also present the return of Iris van Herpen de Holland and the final show in Balenciaga by Demon, the acclaimed Georgian Couturier that Kering has named as the new creative director of Gucci.
