For the first time, the internationally recognized sustainable fashion conference, organized by the Global Fashion Agenda (GFA), will take place in China. The event is scheduled in Shanghai on November 7, where it will be held as a gala during the China International Import Expo (CIIE).
The event will coincide with the CIIE, which will be held from November 5 to 10, and will be held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (NECC). This location also regularly hosts major Chinese textile and clothing fairs, such as Intertextile and Chic, in March and August.
This inaugural event in China, which will include keynote speeches and roundtable discussions, aims to build on the themes discussed at the recent World Fashion Summit held in Copenhagen from May 21-23.
“The gala aims to raise awareness about sustainable development in the fashion industry, showcase innovative practices and technologies, address urgent problems and solutions, foster collaboration among stakeholders and inspire action to achieve sustainable development goals,” the GFA outlined in a statement.
Launched by the GFA in 2009 during COP15 in Copenhagen, the World Fashion Summit has become a prominent platform to discuss sustainability in fashion. With previous editions held in cities such as Singapore and Boston, this upcoming summit in China marks another important milestone for the organization's global reach.
